The Scots College, Sydney
The Scots College, Sydney, has undertaken
a long term restoration process to return some of the ornate
features of the older building to their original style. This
process has also included the selection, restoration, digitisation,
enlargement and framing of photographs from the College archive.
These photographs have been used to reflect the rich and diverse
117 year history. Large ornate gilt frames, that represent particular
periods, have been used to capture the era that the photographs
represent. Two major collections containing over 50 framed images
now adorn the walls in the College Dining Hall and in the original
hallway of the main school.
The work undertaken by Mr. Bernard West has been of an exceptionally
high quality, from advice on restoration, skilful repairs to
old and damaged originals, digitization and enlargement of the
very important archival images, to the selection and framing
of the photographs to a very high archival standard. Additionally,
Mr. West has created a digital archive of images that will serve
to preserve these valuable historical records.
Mr. West has managed the project from inception to completion
in a very professional and diligent manner and the College highly
values its continuing association with him. It has been a pleasure
working with a true professional and a gentleman.

NSW Department of Mineral Resources
‘Australian Photo Restoration Services
completed an important scanning project for the New South Wales
Department of Mineral Resources (now part of the New South Wales
Department of Primary Industries). They duplicated over 3000
glass lantern slides and copied nearly 1000 historic prints
from the Department’s Heritage Photo Collection, prior
to their being archived at State Records. APRS carried out the
project with great diligence and attention to detail. Their
experience and problem solving skills ensured that the project
was completed on time and on budget.’
